Description

“I went to the woods because... I wanted to live deep and suck out all the marrow of life, .... to put to rout all that was not life and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived”.
(Henry David Thoreau, Walden, 1845 - 1847)

Michele De Lucchi wants to represent on a small scale all the trees in the world. He has chosen his first six on the basis of their size and diverse
foliage: the Lebanon Cedar with its “chandelier” bearing, the evergreen Fir, the Birch with its silvery wood, the Chestnut and its good fruit, the Larch with its pyramidal mane, and the European Beech with its dense leaves.
Engraved in burnished iron, they are faithful icons of trees in the scale of 1 : 100. These figures can be used to form a wood, comprising numerous different species and growing from year to year.
